How LifeVault handles your data
LifeVault ("we", "us") built LifeVault as an offline-first app. This policy explains what data the app handles and why.
All the information you enter — documents, receipts, warranties, subscriptions, vehicle records, medicine schedules, home inventory, family records, notes, tasks, and passwords — is stored in a database on your device, encrypted at rest (SQLCipher, AES-256). Password Vault entries receive an additional layer of field-level encryption. We do not have access to this data, and it is never uploaded anywhere unless you explicitly turn on cloud backup.
If you enable cloud backup, an encrypted copy of your data is uploaded to our servers so you can restore it on a new device. This feature is off by default. You can disable it and delete your cloud backup at any time from Profile > Backup.
We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to catch bugs. These tools receive anonymous usage events (e.g. "a document was added") and crash logs — never the content of your documents, notes, or passwords. You can turn this off in Profile > Notifications > Analytics.
Some free-tier screens may show ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob may use an advertising identifier to show relevant ads. You can reset or limit ad personalization in your device's system settings. Ads never appear on your Documents, Password Vault, or any screen showing your personal content.
Nothing is captured in the background without your action.
Deleted items move to Trash and are permanently removed after 30 days, or immediately if you choose "Delete Forever." Cloud backups (if enabled) are removed within 30 days of you disabling cloud backup or deleting your account.
You can export all your data (Profile > Backup > Export), or delete it entirely by uninstalling the app (which removes the local encrypted database) and disabling cloud backup if it was enabled.
LifeVault is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
We'll update the "Last updated" date above if this policy changes, and notify you in-app for material changes.

The agreement between you and LifeVault
By using LifeVault, you agree to these terms.
LifeVault is a personal organization app for storing documents, reminders, and related personal records. It is provided "as is" — while we've built it with encryption and care, you're responsible for keeping your own backups of anything critical.
LifeVault does not require an account to use its core, offline features. If you enable optional cloud backup, you're responsible for keeping your device PIN/biometric and any backup password secure — we cannot recover encrypted data if you lose your credentials.
Don't use LifeVault to store or process unlawful content, or to attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or abuse the app or backend services.
If you purchase a Pro upgrade, billing is handled by Google Play. Refunds follow Google Play's standard refund policy. You can cancel a subscription any time from the Play Store.
LifeVault is provided without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for data loss, missed reminders, or damages arising from use of the app, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
We may update, change, or discontinue features over time. We'll aim to give notice for significant changes that affect your data.
You may stop using LifeVault at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend cloud backup access for accounts that violate these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence unless otherwise required by applicable law.
